One of the great things about North Stars is our versatility. We do:
- Formal concerts with a programme comprising mainly classical and jazz pieces – alone, or as a double bill with another ensemble or choir. We have performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Old Vic to name but a few.
- Dance and dinner parties with a mixed programme of downbeat and upbeat sounds
- Outdoor festivals, carnivals and street parties
Our Programme generally comprises 2 x 45 minute or 3 x 30 minute sets though we are flexible.

Our Technical Requirements
We require the following basic facilities
- Flat space of 7 x 7 metres with good access between our vehicle and the stage (remember steel drums are heavy and cumbersome)
- Secure parking for our truck and minibus
- Changing room facilities for up to 22 musicians (male and female separate)
- Access to the venue for at least an hour before and after for get-in and get-out
- In most cases no amplification or electricity required. There are two exceptions to this:
- If the orchestra is part of an outdoor programme which includes amplified bands, we will require our instruments to be amplified too.
- If you require an MC to introduce and explain the music (which we are happy to provide) a hand microphone will be necessary.

Our Fee
Our Fee is negotiable dependent upon the nature of the event, time commitment and travel requirement. Concert promoters in Yorkshire and Humberside may be eligible for a subsidy of up to 40% under the Yorkshire Arts Musicians in residence Scheme (for details contact Sarah Derbyshire on 01653 668551)
